Are you contacting us on behalf of another person or group?

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Nova Scotia SPCA. At this time, all NS SPCA volunteers who are 16-17 years old must be accompanied by an adult through the training period.

This adult must be able to attend and completed the necessary training, both online and in-person. Please complete this form and follow the next steps for more information on this process.

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Nova Scotia SPCA. At this time, all NS SPCA volunteers are required to be 16 or older.

Still want to help? People of all ages are welcome to come to the shelter to offer enrichment to shelter animals as a casual Cat Cuddler or Dog Walker. You can do this as often as you like during opening hours. Opening hours vary across the province - please go to Nova Scotia SPCA | Saving Lives. Creating Families. and click "Find Your SPCA" at the top to see the hours at your local shelter. Please note that young people under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult during these visits.

If you wish to visit the shelter casually, there is no need to complete this form. We hope to see you around the shelter soon!

We appreciate all offers of help! Please indicate below the option that best describes your availability to volunteer.

Regular Basis: volunteers for one 3-4 hour shift a week, normally at the same time (some exceptions may apply, ie, thrift store volunteers or those with rotational schedules).

Casual: volunteers on a drop-in basis, with frequency and time changing from week to week, based on organization needs or volunteer's availability.

Crisis: organization requests volunteers for a specific task/purpose, and volunteer helps where possible.

Specific Professional Skills: outside of our regular volunteer positions, these volunteers would be contacted only when these specific services are needed - ie: photography, graphic design, electrical, etc. Please note: some services require professional designation for insurance purposes (ie, red seal, etc).

How do you want to help the Nova Scotia SPCA?

Please note: If you are interested in socializing or training animals, please do not select the "professional skills" option, even if you have training in this field. Instead, choose either the "regular basis" or "casual" options above. You will be able to share more about your training and skills during the next steps of onboarding. Thank you!

Please check the box below if you do not have regular internet access.
We are so grateful for your interest ! Please share what brought you to us.
