Purpose

A SPCA Animal Hospital Receptionist is a key member of the Nova Scotia SPCA team whose primary purpose is to interact with clients ensuring considerate, prompt, professional service.

Schedule

  • 10 hour shift or 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

This position primarily answers phone calls, provides excellent and expeditious response to client’s questions, screens for service needs and schedules appointments and handles payments. In addition, an SPCA Animal Hospital Receptionist will handle incoming and outgoing e-mail, document and maintain client information, service data and other pertinent information within business operations software. Escalates complex matters to senior staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Answering phones and scheduling appointments
  • Invoicing and billing clients, processing payments
  • Perform outbound calls to clients to pick up their animals/ prescription medication

Qualifications

  • Veterinary Assistant certificate or equivalent work experience
  • Employees must demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and
  • Strong oral and written communications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and office procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Additional Information

  • This position is Monday to Friday – NO WEEKENDS
  • Ability to work some evenings to 7pm

Physical Requirements

  • Working conditions include working alone, frequent interruptions, and some evenings.

Hours of Work

Work responsibilities require a standard 32 to 40 hours per week.
