Do you have a passion for Thrift? Do you have a desire to make a difference in the community? Would you like a retail role with a sense of purpose? The Nova Scotia SPCA is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for animal welfare as the Regional Manager of Thrift Shop Operations.

In this role, you will oversee Thrift Shop operations at the New Minas, Dartmouth, Stellarton, and Cape Breton locations. You will be a part of the development team at the Nova Scotia SPCA and will be required to work closely with local communities and team members. The thrift team needs to build relationships with donors, volunteers, and customers. We are service focused in everything we do, and we need someone who can build a collaborative and community-focused culture.

The position can be based anywhere in Nova Scotia but will require the candidate to travel to mainland Thrift locations regularly. You can expect to be in stores 3 to 4 days a week. The position will report to the Executive Director, Advancement and be an integral part of the SPCA’s fundraising team.

 

Required Skills

We are seeking a candidate with a background in retail, management, business development, or marketing with experience in managing people. The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, time management skills, the ability to travel, and the ability to motivate others. Experience with volunteers, retail management software (S-Tags & Microsoft) and community outreach would be an asset.

Driver’s license: Required

 

Physical Requirements

Walk and/or stand throughout a workday. Lift and carry 40 lbs regularly.

 

Responsibilities

· Opening our new store in Stellarton;

· The recruitment, training and retention of associates and store managers;

· Engaging new volunteers and retaining them with rewarding opportunities;

· Team member development, including coaching, mentorship, and performance management;

· Developing KPIs for Thrift Stores and driving teams to meet goals;

· Building and maintaining the Thrift Store Brand across the province;

· Securing content and working with our Marketing & Communications team to drive business to our locations;

· Meeting financial targets for all locations to ensure sustainable revenue for SPCA animal care and operations annually.

 

Hours of Work

Compensation: $26-$31.25 hourly; competitive benefits package and RRSP matching

Hours: 32-40 hours per week (occasional weekends and evenings)
